Painting a Digital Portrait in Photoshop - Timelapse Speed Drawing Demo - Studio Sneak Peek 18

Here is a timelapse video showing part of the process for creating my latest book cover illustration. I work digitally in Photoshop, but using a pretty traditional approach. I sketch out the composition first, block in color and value, and then work with a variety of brushes and textures to refine the details. In this demo, I am painting the face of one of the characters in a realistic style. The title of the book is “Disarming Donner” by Charlie Cochet, published by Dreamspinner Press.

Bill Sanders: Political Cartoons That Show Us At Our Best and Worst - Paul Richmond Studio - Vlog 28

Bill Sanders is a celebrated political cartoonist who was way ahead of his time. He is known for his progressive, biting commentary on civil liberties and civil rights issues. Many of the problems we are still grappling with today like corporate greed and corruption, gun control, racial inequality, gender bias, LGBT rights, and women’s health are portrayed in Sanders’ work dating back to the 1960’s! Come along with me to the opening reception for an exhibit of his powerful and important illustrations - we need them now more than ever! The show, Bill Sanders: Against the Grain at Open Ground Studios in Monterey, California, was lovingly curated by Denese Sanders, the artist’s daughter and Artistic Director at OGS.
